Omega Watch restauration cost-12324 -

Hi everyone.

I'm asking this for a friend, as this is not my watch, but his.

This watch, of wich you will see some pictures, was given an estimate repair cost of 2.800 Euros, wich i found simply put, outrageous!

Here's the pictures:











The digital face of the watch works perfectly once we put a battery on it, but the analogue part doesn't.

Can someone provide me more information on how could Omega give me an estimate on this repair, someone i could contact with this information?

Also, tell me your thoughts on this watch, and, if at this current price of repair your would do it.

Omega is probably abandoning non-Co-axial escapement movements based on the F. Piguet caliber. With Omega doing that the movement is probably fair game for other watch companies to use.

Omega Vintage Seamaster Calendar 18k 503-12348 -

Gentlemen -

I am new to this board (and to watch colllecting in general), and I was hoping to gather some information from true enthusiasts re a vintage Seamaster Calendar I have inherited. It is a 1956 (sn: 1523xxxx), solid 18k, 20 jewels, 503 movement, case # 2849 SC. It is in excellent condition - I am just trying to determine the rarity and/or value of the piece since I have been unsuccessful in finding anything comparable in watch guides or ebay (no 18k's listed). I do know via Omega's site that this watch seems complete without "bastardized" parts (except for the strap and crown that needed replaced). Thank you in advance for any help! MR
